The Forgotten Trailer

It arrived in a package as an 'extra' item that the previous owner didn't want and gave to me for free. It missed the tires, and looked the worse for wear: battered, battle-scared, and stripped of almost all its paint.

I thought of using it for decoration purposes in a photo shoot, as something of an abandoned wreck. Yet, even though such a role can be very important, as those with eye for detail will understand, there was a more 'active' life still ahead for the old trailer. The turn of events came as an unrelated purchase, in the shape of a Dinky Toys version of the classic Massey-Harris 44 Diesel Tractor. It was a match made in heaven.

So I decided to restore the old 'buff', not by returning it back to 'mint' condition, but just enough to make it match with the tractor, who also showed clear signs of wear and tear. By sheer coincidence -or was it?- I found a set of perfectly fitting tires in a box with old Meccano parts. And maybe it was me, but I could have sworn that I saw him smile after receiving new 'shoes'.

The next step was the painting. As said, I didn't want to make it look 'new', as that would not match with the battle-hardened appearance of the Massey-Harris. And thus, after much experimenting, I came to the following result:

When the paint job was done satisfactorily, it was time for the trailer to meet the tractor. Again, a perfect match, and a successful completion of this mini-project!
