You're looking at my very first 'shadow box', and at the same time the very first miniatures project I ever did.
Completed less than a year ago, in Feb 2017, and titled "The World of Miroslav Pecho", it was to be a tribute to the Slovak artist whose work I admire.
Apart from his gloomy style, which agrees with my own taste, I deeply admire his energy and productivity. In a time when I was going through a prolonged period of deep artistic hibernation, Miroslav managed -without him even knowing it- to pull me out of it, and get me going.
Inspired by his work, I decided that I had spent too much time 'sleeping', and it was time for me to rise. And so I did! The shadow box was presented to Miroslav as a personal tribute to him and his work. It depicts a representation of his studio, or rather of how I imagined it to be, including replica's of those paintings which I like the most, and he was very impressed with it.
The rest, as they say, is history.
